Two-Day Anti-Doping Workshop Concludes
A two-day-long anti-doping awareness workshop organized by the Bangladesh Swimming Federation for young swimmers has concluded. The workshop was held at the federation’s own auditorium with the participation of around 100 young swimmers.
The workshop was jointly organized by World Aquatics, Anti-Doping Education and Learning, and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), with the aim of raising awareness among swimmers about the risks and consequences of doping and promoting clean and ethical sports.
Renowned anti-doping trainer Dr. Shafiquur Rahman served as the lead trainer at the workshop. He conducted sessions on anti-doping rules and regulations, prohibited substances and methods, athletes’ rights and responsibilities, and the importance of making informed decisions regarding medicines and supplements.
The participants were also briefed on the potential health and sporting consequences of using prohibited substances, as well as the importance of complying with international anti-doping regulations during national and international competitions.
The workshop featured interactive sessions where the young swimmers had the opportunity to raise questions and discuss practical issues related to anti-doping regulations. Particular emphasis was placed on exercising caution while taking medicines or nutritional supplements and ensuring that athletes do not inadvertently violate anti-doping rules.
Bangladesh Swimming Federation Vice President Lutfor Rahman, Joint Secretary Md. Selim Mia, and Executive Committee members Md. Din Amin, Nargis Ara Annie, Md. Shahjahan Ali Rony, Harun-or-Rashid and Mili Akter were also present at the workshop.
The organizers said such initiatives are important for developing a clean sporting culture among young athletes. They expressed hope that increased awareness of anti-doping regulations would help Bangladeshi swimmers compete more responsibly and successfully at the international level.
