Taskin Ahmed, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz headline a balanced squad as Walton aim for title glory
Walton have assembled a star-studded squad featuring several national team cricketers as they target the title in the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) inaugural D-Three Trophy, a new domestic competition combining T20, one-day and four-day cricket.
The franchise strengthened their lineup with the signing of national team fast bowler Taskin Ahmed for 2.10 crore points at the players’ auction on Monday, October 26, 2026, held at a five-star hotel in Dhaka. Wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumar Das was acquired for 1.55 crore points, while experienced Test batter Mominul Haque joined the squad for 80 lakh points.
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Walton’s designated icon cricketer, will be another key figure in the title hunt. The squad also includes national team spinner Nasum Ahmed, experienced batter Marshal Ayub, Rony Talukdar and several promising young players.
With a blend of international experience, domestic performers and emerging talent, Walton are optimistic about mounting a strong challenge across all three formats.
The eight-hour auction began at 10:00am, featuring 269 cricketers and six franchise teams. Experienced Indian auctioneer Charu Sharma conducted the event, with each franchise selecting 22 players in addition to its designated icon to complete a 23-member squad.
Taskin emerged as Walton’s most expensive acquisition at 2.10 crore points, providing a major boost to their pace attack. The franchise also secured young fast bowler Iqbal Hasan Emon for 66 lakh points, while Rejaur Rahman Raja and Habibur Rahman Sohan were signed for 32 lakh points each.
Nasum Ahmed, acquired for 69 lakh points, is expected to strengthen the spin department, while promising all-rounder Samiiun Basir Ratul joined for 54 lakh points.
Ariful Islam was picked up for 62 lakh points, Marshal Ayub for 36 lakh points and Rony Talukdar for 30 lakh points.
The combination gives Walton several options in the batting order and bowling attack, with Miraz’s all-round ability offering additional flexibility. Litton’s aggressive batting and Taskin’s pace could prove particularly valuable in the shorter format, while Mominul’s experience is expected to be an asset in four-day matches.
Former national team spinner Abdur Razzak has been appointed head coach of Walton for the tournament.
Speaking after the auction, Razzak expressed satisfaction with the squad, saying the auction system had provided every franchise with an opportunity to assemble a competitive team featuring established stars.
Walton made effective use of that opportunity, he said, adding that the team would now focus on preparation and delivering results on the field.
Razzak also said he was enjoying his new role, particularly the opportunity to remain closely involved with cricket and work directly with players. He stressed, however, that his priority was to fulfil his responsibilities as coach and guide the team towards positive results.
The franchise's captain has yet to be announced. Although the squad features players with national team captaincy experience, including Miraz and Litton, the final decision will be made in line with the team's needs and circumstances, Razzak said.
Film actor Amin Khan represented Walton at the auction and expressed confidence in the team's prospects.
“Everyone expects their team to win. I have the same expectation—that Team Walton will definitely win,” Amin said.
“Looking at how the team was built today, the players who were selected, along with having the best coach by our side, we hope to put on a great performance and ultimately win.”
The D-Three Trophy is designed to introduce a new dimension to domestic cricket by bringing three formats—T20, one-day and four-day cricket—under a single competition.
For Walton, the challenge will be to build consistency across formats that demand different skills and strategies. The franchise will rely on its experienced internationals, emerging talents and Razzak’s tactical guidance to turn its strong auction performance into success on the field.
With the squad now complete, Walton's focus shifts to preparation as they seek to translate their star power into a championship-winning campaign.
