DHAKA, November 8, 2026: The Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting foreign investment and sustainable industrial development in Bangladesh, highlighting the importance of a business-friendly environment, regulatory reforms and stronger Bangladesh-Japan economic cooperation.

The chamber participated as a supporting organisation in the national business summit Investors Meetup 3.0 | 2026, held on Saturday night (November 7) at the Multipurpose Hall of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The summit, jointly organised by JCI Dhaka Achievers and BDFairs, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, investors and entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities, improve the ease of doing business, attract foreign direct investment (FDI) and unlock the potential of Bangladesh's emerging halal industry.

Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), president of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI), attended the opening session as the chief guest.

In his address, he stressed the need for policy consistency, regulatory reforms, lower industrial production costs and stronger institutional mechanisms to enhance Bangladesh's competitiveness in international markets.

Representing JBCCI, its immediate past president Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun), managing director of New Vision Solutions Ltd, moderated a panel discussion titled “Sustainable Industry and ESG Investment”.

The discussion focused on the growing importance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) compliance in attracting international investors and maintaining access to global markets.

Panellists highlighted energy efficiency, green financing, sustainable technologies and responsible industrial practices as essential elements of Bangladesh's long-term industrial competitiveness.

The discussion featured Omar Faruk, president of the MEP Consultants Association of Bangladesh; Al Imran Hossain, technical coordinator of the association; Jisu Park (Billion), chairman of AMRAK Ltd; and Mohammed Zahidullah, chief sustainability officer of DBL Group.

Meanwhile, Hiroaki Oura, chief representative of Itochu Corporation and a director of JBCCI, participated as a distinguished panellist in another session titled “Ease of Doing Business, FDI & Investment Horizons”.

The session examined investment facilitation, industrial development, regulatory challenges and ways to strengthen Bangladesh's position as an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investors.

The summit also featured keynote presentations on Bangladesh's halal industry and the need for sustainable industrial transformation.

Speakers highlighted opportunities to expand halal exports, develop internationally recognised certification systems, improve supply-chain traceability and establish a dedicated institutional framework to support the sector.

Discussions also underscored the importance of renewable energy, waste management, decarbonisation, energy-efficient technologies and sustainable financing in strengthening the country's industrial base.

The summit provided a platform for dialogue and collaboration among government agencies, industry associations, domestic and international investors, and business leaders.

JBCCI welcomed initiatives aimed at creating a more investment-friendly business environment, promoting sustainable industrial growth and expanding international trade and investment opportunities.

As a bilateral chamber working to strengthen economic ties between Bangladesh and Japan, JBCCI said it would continue to facilitate business dialogue, encourage partnerships and support initiatives contributing to Bangladesh's long-term economic growth and industrial competitiveness.
