Bangladesh-Saudi business ties poised for a new investment push

DHAKA, October 14: Saudi Arabia could emerge as a major investment destination for Bangladeshi entrepreneurs, with its Vision 2030 programme opening up new business opportunities, speakers said at a seminar in Dhaka on Tuesday night.

They said Bangladeshi investors could explore opportunities in the Kingdom’s expanding economy, supported by economic diversification, business-friendly initiatives and potential access to residency and visa facilities. However, they stressed the importance of understanding Saudi regulations, investment requirements and market conditions before entering the market.

The remarks came at the Saudi-Bangladesh Investment Summit 2026, organised by Saudi Business Consultant at a city hotel to bring together Bangladeshi entrepreneurs, investors and Saudi business specialists to explore investment and business opportunities in the Kingdom, particularly those emerging from Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

Professor Dr Mohsin Kazi of King Saud University attended the event as the chief guest. Dr Ahmad Abdullah Saqib, chairman of the Hadeeth Foundation Education Board; Dr Yousef Abdullah M Bin Jardan, a professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics; Dr Abdullah Al-Mohizea, chief executive officer of Creative Ocean Consultancy; and Hafiz Muhammad Akhter Madani, principal of Al-Markazul Islami As-Salafi, attended as special guests.

Journalist Farabi Hafiz presented the keynote paper, while Muhammad Saifullah Saiful, chairman and chief executive officer of Saudi Business Consultant, presided over the event.

Speakers highlighted Saudi Arabia’s ongoing economic transformation under Vision 2030, a strategic programme aimed at diversifying the Kingdom’s economy beyond oil, attracting foreign investment and expanding the role of the private sector.

They said the transformation was creating opportunities for international investors in a range of sectors, although Bangladeshi businesses would need to assess investment risks, regulatory requirements and commercial viability before making commitments.

For Bangladesh, stronger investment engagement with Saudi Arabia could help diversify overseas business links, expand bilateral trade and create opportunities for entrepreneurs seeking to enter new markets.

Muhammad Saifullah Saiful said the main objective of the summit was to establish a platform where Saudi and Bangladeshi investors, entrepreneurs and business leaders could connect, explore investment opportunities, build partnerships and promote bilateral trade and investment.

“The initiative seeks to strengthen business ties between the two countries and help Bangladeshi entrepreneurs identify viable opportunities in the Saudi market,” he said.

He added that closer engagement between businesses in the two countries could help investors understand the Saudi business environment and identify potential partners for future ventures.

The summit also sought to encourage dialogue between Bangladeshi entrepreneurs and Saudi business specialists, with the aim of turning emerging investment opportunities into practical business partnerships.
