Open Doors Olympiad registration for 2027–28 academic year closes on November 1

Bangladeshi students and young researchers have an opportunity to pursue higher education and research at leading Russian universities without paying tuition fees through the Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project Olympiad.

The Russian House in Dhaka has invited eligible applicants to participate in the international academic competition for the 2027–2028 academic year. Registration closes on November 1, 2026.

Organised by the Association of Global Universities in collaboration with Russia’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education and Rossotrudnichestvo, the Olympiad offers opportunities at four levels: bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral (PhD) and postdoctoral.

The competition covers 14 subject areas, including engineering, medicine, computer science, natural sciences, economics and the humanities.

Successful candidates may qualify for tuition-free admission to eligible programmes taught in English or Russian at participating Russian universities.

Eligible winners of Russian-taught bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes may also receive government grant benefits, including travel expenses, accommodation, medical insurance and a monthly stipend, subject to applicable conditions. Postdoctoral participants can pursue advanced research under the guidance of leading scientists.

According to the organisers, the Olympiad has attracted more than 618,000 participants from over 200 countries since its launch in 2017. More than 16,700 participants have been named winners or runners-up.

Online guidance for applicants

To help Bangladeshi applicants navigate the application process, the Russian House in Dhaka offers online guidance sessions every Monday and Thursday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm Bangladesh Standard Time.

The sessions provide general guidance on programme selection, document preparation and application procedures. Direct consultation links are available on the official Facebook page of the Russian House in Dhaka, located in Dhanmondi.

Interested applicants can register through the official website at https://od.globaluni.ru/. Detailed information on participation rules, competition schedules, subject areas and frequently asked questions is also available on the website.

The organisers have encouraged eligible students and young researchers to review the requirements and complete their registration before the deadline.

The initiative is part of broader educational cooperation between Bangladesh and Russia, with the aim of expanding access to international academic opportunities, developing skilled professionals and strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
