Russia Day 2026 Celebrated in Dhaka: Russian House Hosts Cultural Fair, Exhibitions and International Concert

The event highlights the growing cultural ties between Russia and Bangladesh.

Russian House in Dhaka has organized a grand cultural program in observance of Russia Day with cultural exhibitions, cultural fair and a concert, which was attended by diplomats, students, alumni, cultural persons, and members of Bangladeshi and Russian communities.

At the opening session of the cultural event, Ms Alexandra Khlevnoy, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka, elaborated on the significance of Russia Day and underscored the need for cultural exchanges to promote international understanding.

Minister Counsellor Vyacheslav Sentyurin of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangladesh was another guest speaker in the event. He talked about the friendship that has existed since time immemorial between Bangladesh and Russia. He also highlighted the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation in broadening mutual ties.

An exhibition highlighting different aspects of modern Russia, including nature, science and culture, was held as part of the event.
Folk Song and Dance Ensemble “Alabuga” of Yelabuga College of Culture and Arts in Tatarstan, Russia staged a spectacular performance comprising folk songs, dances and musical performances of different cultures of Russia and Tatarstan.

One of the performers was Razil Gabbasov, demonstrating traditional folk instruments, and another was Dilyara Mirovaeva, an Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In order to add a flavor of Bangladesh to this cultural event, the kids' dance group "Happiness" comprising the children of graduates from the Soviet universities of Bangladesh performed the Bengali dances, highlighting the historical bond between the people of the two nations.

Members of the Russian diaspora in Bangladesh participated in this cultural event with a recital of the song-poem "I Gaze at the Blue Lakes" and dancing to the traditional Russian song "Korobeiniki."

A separate section was allotted to the Republic of Tatarstan and the culture of the region as well as an introduction of one of the major educational centers of Russia - the city of Kazan.

After the concert, people visited the Russia Day Cultural Fair and two thematic exhibitions. The themes included "Multicultural Russia," featuring peoples of the Russian Federation, and "Pristine Russia" displaying landscapes and fauna of the nation.

The fair had a range of cultural activities including matryoshka-painting classes, a photo zone with a Russian theme, souvenirs, traditional foods and much more.
