Ahmed Foods eyes nationwide expansion, possible Bangladesh factory
DHAKA: Pakistani food products manufacturer Ahmed Foods is exploring opportunities to expand its business across Bangladesh and could consider setting up a local manufacturing facility if it secures a successful nationwide distribution network.
The Karachi-based company will participate in the fourth “Made in Pakistan” Exhibition, being held alongside the Pakistan-Bangladesh Business Opportunities Conference on September 22, as part of its efforts to find distributors and expand its market presence in Bangladesh.
“We want to expand our business across the country. So, we will participate in the exhibition to find a perfect distributor channel,” Ahmed Food International Brand Manager Talha Rafiq told The Shuttle Times.
He said Ahmed Foods products are currently available in the Chattogram area, but the company wants to establish a wider distribution network covering different parts of Bangladesh.
“If we get a successful distribution channel, then we could invest in Bangladesh to set up a factory, targeting the local market,” Talha said.
He said the company is offering at least 30 percent discounts on selected products during the exhibition to attract consumers and business partners.
The discounted product range includes sauces, ketchup, spices and various biryani and meat masalas.
Among the products being offered are chilli garlic sauce, barbecue sauces, tomato ketchup, chilli sauce, green chilli sauce, soy sauce, tamarind sauce and teriyaki sauce.
The company is also offering a range of spice products, including garlic and ginger powder, beef biryani masala, chicken biryani masala, fish masala, haleem masala, kofta masala, mutton biryani masala, qorma masala, shami kabab masala and Sindhi biryani masala.
Founded in 1952 in Karachi, Ahmed Foods began its journey with traditional pickles and preserves based on Pakistani recipes.
Over the decades, the company has expanded its portfolio to more than 200 products, combining traditional South Asian flavours with modern food manufacturing and packaging.
The company says its products are now aimed at consumers in international markets while maintaining the traditional taste associated with Pakistani cuisine.
Ahmed Foods' stated vision is to preserve authentic South Asian flavours for consumers worldwide, while its mission focuses on quality, innovation and maintaining traditional culinary heritage.
For Ahmed Foods, Bangladesh represents an opportunity to expand beyond its existing presence in Chattogram and establish a broader consumer and distribution base.
The company’s participation in the upcoming exhibition is therefore expected to provide an opportunity to meet potential distributors and business partners as it assesses the prospects for further investment in Bangladesh.
If a suitable distribution network is established, the company may explore local manufacturing, which would mark a further step in its efforts to deepen its presence in the Bangladeshi market.
