19-member Bangladeshi delegation joins Global Digital Forum 2026, with participants speaking on AI, media trust and digital assets

DHAKA, October 14, 2026 — Bangladesh and Russia have opened new avenues for cooperation in digital technology, education and research, following the participation of a 19-member Bangladeshi delegation in the Global Digital Forum 2026 in Moscow.

The second edition of the forum was held from October 8 to 10 at the Mechta venue in Gorky Park, bringing together technology experts, policymakers, businesses, academics and representatives of international organisations from across the world.

According to the organisers, the event attracted more than 1,300 guests, including 730 experts from 111 countries. More than 60 sessions were held, while participants conducted over 200 bilateral meetings and signed 150 agreements and memorandums on the sidelines.

Organised with the support of the Russian government, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the forum was held under the slogan “Communicate. Connect. Create.”

The event aimed to promote international digital cooperation based on trust, mutual respect and equal opportunities, with discussions focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, online child safety, AI ethics, smart cities, digital education and the future of media.

Bangladeshi experts join global discussions

Bangladesh's participation included IT entrepreneurs, students, educators and teachers, with two members of the delegation contributing directly to panel discussions.

On October 8, Khan Mohammad Nakib, chief executive officer of DianaHost, spoke at a session titled “The Value of a Name: Domain as a Digital Asset”, which explored the significance of domain names in the digital economy.

On the same day, Md Saddam Hossain Roni, an independent researcher and developer at Talk Hope Integrated Model (THIM), participated in a panel titled “Humans Need Humans: Trust in Media in the Age of AI”.

Their participation brought Bangladeshi perspectives into international discussions on digital infrastructure, the evolving role of technology and the importance of trust in media amid the growing use of artificial intelligence.

The Bangladeshi delegation comprised 19 people from the country's technology, education and student communities. The organisers provided support for delegates' airfares, accommodation and visa costs.

High-level participation

Among the distinguished Bangladeshi representatives attending the forum were Faqir Mahbub Anam, minister for posts, telecommunications and information technology and minister for science and technology; Md Nazrul Islam, Bangladesh's ambassador to Russia; and Muhammad Mukhlesur Rahman, deputy secretary at the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.

Several Bangladeshi institutions and universities also signed memorandums of understanding with Russian organisations during the event.

The agreements are expected to create opportunities for collaboration in technology, education and research, although the specific institutions involved, terms of the agreements and implementation timelines were not detailed in the information released by the organisers.

Focus on future cooperation

The forum provided an international platform for Bangladesh's young entrepreneurs, students and educators to exchange ideas and engage with global technology stakeholders.

For Bangladesh, the participation comes amid growing interest in digital innovation, technology-based entrepreneurship and international collaboration in education and research.

The agreements with Russian organisations could provide a basis for further institutional engagement, while participation in discussions on AI, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure may help Bangladeshi stakeholders exchange expertise and explore emerging technological opportunities.

The first Global Digital Forum was held in Nizhny Novgorod on June 5–6, 2025. The 2026 edition was organised as part of Digital Solutions, described by the organisers as Russia's largest IT event.
