Boesel shortlists 300 candidates through lottery from 4,029 applicants for DHL Supply Chain jobs

Dhaka, November 8: Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (Boesel) has shortlisted 300 candidates through an electronic lottery for jobs at Malaysia-based DHL Supply Chain Malaysia Sdn Bhd, under a recruitment initiative that will allow successful applicants to migrate without paying any recruitment costs.

A total of 4,029 candidates applied online between November 6 and 8. Of the 300 provisionally selected candidates, 200 were shortlisted for the position of operations assistant and 100 for technical skilled worker positions.

The lottery was conducted at the Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in Dhaka on Sunday in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, Boesel officials and journalists.

The shortlisted candidates will undergo practical and oral examinations conducted by representatives of DHL Supply Chain. Following the selection process, 112 candidates will be recruited and sent to Malaysia at zero migration cost.

Speaking at the event, Ahmadul Haque, acting secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, said the initiative would contribute to the government's target of sending 10 million workers abroad over the next five years.

He said the recruitment programme also reflected the expatriates' welfare minister's commitment to facilitating overseas employment at zero cost.

Mohammad Rashedul Haque, managing director of Boesel, said this was the first time the government-run recruiting agency had introduced a lottery-based selection process for recruiting skilled workers for Malaysia.

"We want to send a message to the people that Boesel always works with transparency and impartiality," he said.

Responding to questions from journalists, Rashedul Haque said flights for the selected workers were expected to begin in the first week of December.

He also said Boesel had received demand letters for another 558 workers in Malaysia's tourism, manufacturing and caregiving sectors.

The employers will bear all migration-related expenses for these workers, including medical examination fees and airfares, allowing them to travel without incurring recruitment costs.

The list of the 300 provisionally selected candidates will be published soon on Boesel's official website and Facebook page.

Mohammad Asaduzzaman, director general of the Wage Earners' Welfare Board, and Nurun Nahar, joint secretary of the ministry, were also present at the event.
