Canadian-Bangladeshi business communities eye new opportunities
DHAKA, November 3: Canadian-Bangladeshi business communities are looking to create new business opportunities for Bangladeshi companies and entrepreneurs in Canada, aiming to strengthen bilateral trade, investment and commercial ties between the two countries.
To advance this goal, the Canada-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CanCham Bangladesh) and the Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada (BBCC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday.
The agreement aims to facilitate investment in Bangladesh, expand Bangladeshi exports to the Canadian market and promote Canadian products in Bangladesh, opening up new avenues for businesses in both countries.
Under the MoU, the two chambers will jointly identify and support potential investment opportunities, encourage cooperation in areas of mutual commercial interest and strengthen business networks between their respective members.
The agreement was signed by Ferdous Ahmed, vice-president of BBCC, on behalf of the Canadian-based business organisation, and Mohammad Kamal Uddin, president of CanCham Bangladesh, representing the Bangladesh-based chamber.
Ali Bakhtiar Mahmud, treasurer of CanCham Bangladesh, and M Shahadat Hossain Sohel, president of the Bangladesh Terry Towel and Linen Manufacturers and Exporters Association, were also present at the signing ceremony.
The partnership is expected to provide businesses with a platform to explore opportunities in the Canadian and Bangladeshi markets, strengthen private-sector engagement and facilitate greater cross-border trade and investment.
For Bangladeshi businesses, the initiative could create opportunities to access the Canadian market, expand export destinations and establish stronger commercial networks with Canadian business communities.
The initiative also reflects efforts by business organisations in both countries to deepen economic engagement, diversify trade and promote stronger private-sector partnerships.
