Anee pledges equal religious rights and communal harmony.
Water Resources Minister Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee today said ensuring equal rights for followers of all religions is the core principle of BNP's politics.
"Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians all live on the same land. There is no scope for treating anyone differently. We are all Bangladeshis and share this land. This is the politics of the BNP," he said.
The minister made the remarks while visiting the Malibari Puja mandap at Mandari Bazar in Chandraganj upazila of Lakshmipur around noon today.
He said peaceful coexistence in society is the most important thing, adding that nothing has value if people are deprived of respect and dignity. People of the country had to struggle and take part in movements to establish their right to live a normal life.
He said people from different communities, including Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, small ethnic communities, Marmas, Mogs and Santals, live in this land and there is no discrimination among them.
He said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had laid the foundation for communal harmony and unity in BNP politics through his political philosophy.
Addressing members of the Hindu community, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee said everyone respects their religious festivals.
People are living together maintaining mutual harmony and peace in society, said the minister, assuring that the BNP government would stand by them in times of any danger or adversity.
The minister also said the state recognises and encourages the freedom of people of all religions to practise their respective faiths.
He said people of the country had long been observing their religious rituals, ceremonies and festivals freely while upholding communal harmony and a non-communal spirit.
He said the BNP had stood by the Hindu community in the past, doing so at present and will continue to do so in the future.
He called on all to remain united to maintain peace and harmony in the country and ensure the rights and dignity of every citizen.
District Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council President Shankar Majumder, General Secretary Milan Mondal, District Puja Udjapan Parishad President Swapan Chandra Nath, General Secretary Shimul Saha, District Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front Vice-President Manik Saha and leaders and activists of different levels of Chandraganj upazila BNP were present, among others.
