Yasser vows protecting journalists’ rights, including wage board.
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury today said the government is working to protect the rights of working journalists including wage board to ensure their welfare.
“The present government is working relentlessly for the welfare of journalists so that they are not deprived of their legitimate rights,” he said at a consultation meeting on the Cyber Security (Amendment) Act 2026.
A presentation was made at the meeting based on opinions received at the previous meeting.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam also spoke on the occasion.
Yasser stressed the need for formulating an acceptable framework on Wage Board, professional rights and welfare in consultation with relevant institutions and organizations.
He said that alongside ensuring journalists’ rights, it should also be ensured that assistance from the Journalist Welfare Trust reaches to genuine journalists.
The state minister also laid emphasis on formulating a framework for recognition of professional journalists. He sought suggestions from the journalist organizations on the possibility of introducing a recognition authority like Bar Council for lawyers.

Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Mahbuba Farzana, ICT Division Secretary Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan and officials concerned were present.
