Innovation, skills vital to boost productivity: Industries Secretary
Industries Secretary Abdun Naser Khan today stressed the need for combining innovation, knowledge and skills to ensure optimum use of the country's limited resources and increase production at lower costs and within a shorter time.
He also underscored the importance of creating new opportunities to enhance productivity by harnessing the talent and creativity of the future generation.
The industries secretary made the remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of an innovation fair organised for students at the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) College campus at Mirpur in the city, marking National Productivity Day 2026, said a press release.
Defining productivity, he said it means increasing production and achieving desired outcomes at lower costs and within less time through the optimum utilisation of existing resources.
He alos noted that the primary objective of enhancing productivity is to ensure the best possible use of the country's available resources and capabilities.
Referring to the innovation fair, Abdun Naser Khan said the innovative projects presented by students reflected the potential of a future Bangladesh.
The projects demonstrated how various problems facing the country could be addressed through innovative thinking, he added.
The industries secretary further said initiatives involving the use of artificial intelligence, waste reduction, electricity generation from waste and the conversion of waste into fertiliser were directly related to productivity.
"The efforts of our new generation to solve the country's problems through innovative ideas are highly encouraging," he said.
Calling on the present generation to create opportunities and a supportive environment for the future generation, the industries secretary said mentioning that it was the responsibility of one generation to prepare the ground for the next.
