Jahrat Adib elected to IPU Executive Committee from Asia-Pacific.
Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Barrister Jahrat Adib Chowdhury has been elected as a member of the Executive Committee of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) from its Asia-Pacific Group.
She was elected today at the 153rd IPU Assembly held in Arusha, Tanzania, defeating the candidate from Mongolia.
The election involved representatives from 37 member countries of the IPU's Asia-Pacific Group. Jahrat's election marks a significant achievement for Bangladesh in the international parliamentary arena.
Parliament Secretariat Secretary Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, who is accompanying the Bangladesh parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, during its Tanzania visit, confirmed the development in a statement.
