President Mirza Fakhrul honoured as eminent teacher in Thakurgaon.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been accoladed as an eminent teacher in Thakurgaon in recognition of his distinct contribution to the teaching profession.
The honour was conferred at a special programme marking World Teachers’ Day 2026 at the District Council Auditorium here this afternoon.
President’s niece Dr Mirza Faiza Tasnim received the award on behalf of the President.
Earlier in the morning, a colourful rally paraded the main streets and later a discussion was held on the significance of the World Teachers’ Day.
Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Huq attended the event as the chief guest with Education Officer Shaheen Akter in the chair.
Additional Superintendent of Police Khodadad Hossain, District Primary Education Officer Mofazzal Hossain and former Deputy Director of Secondary and Higher EducationMd Akhtaruzzaman, also addressed the programme as special guests.
Receiving the honour on behalf of the President, Dr Mirza Faiza Tasnim said, “The President is my elder uncle. He was not only a good institutional teacher, but also taught us many valuable lessons within our family.”
“I am honoured to receive this recognition on his behalf. It is also a matter of great joy for us that the guardian of our family is now the guardian of the entire country,” she added.
