Religious minister urges unity to protect independence and sovereignty.

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad today called upon everyone to remain united, inspired by the spirit of the National Revolution and Solidarity Day, to thwart all conspiracies and protect the nation's independence and sovereignty.

He also expressed firm commitment to building a prosperous, egalitarian and non-discriminatory Bangladesh, grounded in the rule of law.

He made these remarks while addressing a discussion at the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Jeddah to mark the National Revolution and Solidarity Day-2026, here as chief guest.

The Minister said that on November 7, 1975, the nation's patriotic soldiers and freedom-loving people through a bloodless revolution thwarted all domestic and foreign conspiracies against the country's independence and sovereignty.

He added, "At every difficult and critical juncture in our national history, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman emerged as a visionary and fearless savior."

Highlighting the role of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman during the Liberation War, the Minister said that his historic declaration of independence broadcast from the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra in Chattogram on March 26, 1971, inspired the entire nation to join the Liberation War. Furthermore, it was Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman who saved a devastated Bangladesh from total ruin, introduced multi-party democracy, restored freedom of the press and initiated a new political paradigm centered on development and production.

Referring to the present initiatives and activities of the government, the Minister noted that Begum Khaleda Zia, through her uncompromising leadership and long tenure, had maintained a national holiday and official recognition to preserve the historic significance and spirit of November 7. Building upon this, under the strong leadership of the Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, November 7 has been reinstated as 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day' with full state recognition. Several commendable and historic measures have been taken to mark the day with due solemnity and national fervor.

Outlining a vision for the future of Bangladesh, he stated, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we aim to build the country free from discrimination and fascism-a nation where the rule of law and freedom of speech are firmly guaranteed. The primary objective of our government is to build an egalitarian and self-reliant state, while simultaneously ensuring economic security."

Calling for the strengthening of national solidarity, the Minister stated, "On this day, let us renew our pledge to remain united at all times in safeguarding the nation's independence, sovereignty and national solidarity."

The event was attended by the Religious Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad, the Consul General, the Consul (Hajj), and other officials from the Consulate General and the Ministry, local dignitaries; expatriate Bangladeshis and leaders of BNP along with its affiliated and associate organizations.
