Land Minister urges RMP to eradicate crime, drugs, smuggling.

Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, said that in 1992, the then Prime Minister, Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia, formally inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) to fulfill the long-cherished expectation of the people of Rajshahi.
 
But over time, it changed. Therefore, on the instruction of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the glorious history of RMP has been restored to preserve this historic memory.
 
He said these things in his speech as the chief guest today after unveiling the reinstalled plaque as an important memorial of their history and heritage at the RMP Headquarters office.
 
The Land Minister has instructed the RMP to ruthlessly eradicate gambling, land grabbers and drug smugglers from Rajshahi metropolis.
 
He said that to keep Rajshahi peaceful and safe, the law will take its own course and the police will not have to face any kind of political pressure in suppressing criminals.
 
He said that in the last 17 years, during the autocratic government, attempts were made to bring hundreds of crores of taka worth of drugs and illegal contraband into the country from the border areas. 

He termed this syndicate as enemies of the nation and asked the RMP to be more strict against drugs and smuggling.
 
At the end of the program, a special prayer and munajat was offered, wishing for peace, order and prosperity of Rajshahi and seeking forgiveness for the soul of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
 
The program was presided over by RMP Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir.

Special guests present were Advocate Mohammad Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, Divisional Commissioner Yusuf Ali, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Chairman of Rajshahi Development Authority Abul Kalam Azad Sweet, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, and Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Ershad Ali Isha. 

Among others present at the event were local political leaders, officers of RMP and administration, dignitaries and journalists.
