MCCI, Pakistan envoy discuss stronger trade ties, ICT cooperation
DHAKA, Sept 28: Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) President Kamran T. Rahman received Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider at the MCCI head office on Monday, with the two sides discussing ways to expand bilateral trade and strengthen business-to-business cooperation.
During the meeting, they discussed developing institutional linkages between MCCI and regional chambers of commerce and industry in Pakistan, according to the Pakistan High Commission.
The two sides also explored organising business-to-business (B2B) meetings and reciprocal participation in trade exhibitions in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Discussions focused on increasing bilateral trade in a number of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, fresh fruits and vegetables, jute, surgical goods and ceramics.
MCCI leaders also appreciated Pakistan's significant growth in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector and explored potential areas of collaboration in the field.
The meeting came amid renewed efforts by Bangladesh and Pakistan's business communities to broaden commercial engagement and identify new areas of trade and investment.
Haider also invited the MCCI president and its members to attend FoodAg 2026, Pakistan's premier food and agricultural exhibition, scheduled to be held in Karachi from November 23 to 26.
