Minister urges opposition to avoid disruptive movements, maintain stability.
Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan today urged the opposition not to become a 'thorn in people's flesh' by staging unruly movements like those of the fascist Awami League.
“You are saying through your long march that you will bring down the government right now. We will announce a one-point demand very soon. What is this one-point demand? Why should the government fall? The opposition is now speaking in the same tone as that of the Awami League,” he said.
The minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a procession and protest rally organised by Basail upazila BNP against attempts to destabilise the country through planned acts of violence this afternoon.
The minister alleged that the opposition was carrying out the movement after reaching compromises with the ousted fascists and the Awami League under the cover of darkness.
Ahmed Azam Khan said after forming the government, the Prime Minister had announced that he would build Bangladesh as a democratic and prosperous country.
Basail upazila BNP Acting President Mamun Al Jahangir presided over the programme.
District BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shaheen, former Joint Secretary Abul Kashem Mia, upazila BNP General Secretary Nurnabi Abu Hayat Khan Nabu, former president Enamul Karim Atal, Paurashava BNP President Aktaruzzaman Tuhin and General Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Pintu, among others, addressed the rally.
