Former Cantonment OC faces investigation, departmental proceedings.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today said the
former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cantonment Police Station is facing an
investigation and departmental proceedings over a viral incident.
Speaking to reporters at his ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat here, the
home minister said the former OC had been investigated and forensic
examinations had also been conducted in connection with the incident.
"In a viral incident, an investigation and forensic examination were
conducted against the former OC of Cantonment Police Station. One or two
agencies carried out the investigation," Ahmed said.
He said a case had been filed against the former police officer and
departmental proceedings were underway.
The former OC had also been accused in a sedition case involving an alleged
criminal offence and had been arrested, the minister continued.
Ahmed said the transfer of an officer does not necessarily mark the end of
disciplinary action.
"Transfers are made for administrative reasons, negligence of duty, or when
involvement in something is found. But the transfer is not the last step.
Departmental proceedings are being initiated against them after the
transfer," he added.
