Nepal and Bangladesh have discussed strengthening cooperation in local governance, including capacity development, collaboration between local government authorities and the sharing of best practices in community-based initiatives.

Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanashyam Bhandari met Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Moyeen Khan in Dhaka on Wednesday to discuss the potential areas of cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides focused on exchanging experiences and knowledge to improve local governance and strengthen the capacity of local government institutions.

They also discussed opportunities for collaboration in community-based initiatives, with an emphasis on sharing best practices and building institutional capacity.

The meeting reflects efforts by the two neighbouring countries to expand bilateral cooperation beyond traditional areas and strengthen people-to-people ties through engagement at the local government level.

However, no specific agreement or new initiative was announced following the meeting.
