Padakhep Raises Awareness on Safe Parenting and Gender-Based Prevention

Dhaka, September 23, 2026: Padakhep, a reputed development organization with 40 year’s legacy of impacts, organized an event titled ‘Know, Speak Up, Stop Violence’ to raise awareness on preventing gender-based violence and promoting a safe, supportive and dignified workplace and society. Held today at Padakhep’s head office, the event brought together officials and employees from different levels of the organization through both in-person and online participation.

The event focused on strengthening awareness and understanding of gender-based violence, cyberbullying, cyber harassment and safe parenting. Discussions covered the different forms and early warning signs of violence, ways to challenge common misconceptions, identify and address potential risks in the workplace and online spaces, and the legal rights, protection and support available to survivors. The event also highlighted the importance of responsible parenting and creating safer, more respectful environments for children, families and communities.

A.B.M Siddique, Founder and President of Padakhep, inaugurated the event and highlighted the shared responsibility of individuals and institutions in preventing violence. He emphasized that speaking up through the appropriate channels when necessary and standing beside survivors can play an important role in creating a safer environment.

Speaking at the event, Shazib Hasnat, Joint Director, Microfinance Operation and Head of Safeguarding, Padakhep, highlighted key aspects of safeguarding and gender-based violence. He emphasized the importance of recognizing different forms of violence and their early warning signs, identifying potential risks, and ensuring that every individual plays a responsible role in creating a safe workplace.

As the special speaker, Liza Begum, PSC, Deputy Police Commissioner, (Women Support and Investigation Division), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Dhaka, discussed the legal rights and protection of survivors of violence, as well as the appropriate procedures for reporting incidents. She emphasized the importance of speaking up and reporting incidents to the appropriate authorities rather than remaining silent, and seeking assistance from law enforcement agencies whenever necessary. She also briefed participants on accessing essential support and services through 999 and 109, among other available mechanisms.

Padakhep believes that initiatives such as this help employees develop a clearer understanding of gender-based violence, identify potential risks and take appropriate action when necessary. Such efforts can also contribute to strengthening a workplace culture built on safety, mutual respect and responsibility.
