Pakistan-Bangladesh trade ties gaining momentum: High Commissioner

DHAKA, Sept 22: Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider said that bilateral trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh are growing steadily day by day highlighting recent developments in trade and business cooperation between the two countries.

He made the remarks while he was speaking as guest of honor in the inauguration ceremony of the 4th Made-in-Pakistan Exhibition at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.

Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Mohammad Hasan Arif and High Commissioner Imran Haider jointly inaugurated the exhibition.

Representatives of different trade sectors, journalists, a large number of locals and members of the Pakistani community attended in the ceremony. 

The High Commissioner pointed that opening of several Pakistani fashion outlets in Bangladesh, increased trade in essential commodities and the completion of the technical process that will facilitate the export of pineapples from Bangladesh to Pakistan.

He said business communities from both countries could share policy proposals with the Pakistan High Commission and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh to address existing trade barriers and develop long-term business-to-business partnerships.

Organised by the Pakistan Association of Exhibition Industry, the four-day exhibition features more than 100 Pakistani exhibitors showcasing a wide range of products.

The participating companies are displaying textiles, food and beverages, cosmetics, herbal and wellness products, handicrafts and fashion accessories.

The exhibition will remain open to visitors daily from 11am to 10pm and will continue until September 26.

The event provides a platform for Pakistani businesses to showcase their products in Bangladesh while creating opportunities for direct interaction between business communities of the two countries.
