President urges technical education to tackle unemployment.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today stressed the need for greater emphasis on technical and technology-based education to reduce unemployment in the country.
He made the call when a delegation led by Jagannath University (JnU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Rais Uddin paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban this afternoon, said a President's Press Wing release.
During the meeting, the President inquired about the progress of construction of JnU's second campus and called for further improvement in the quality of education at the university.
The JnU vice-chancellor briefed the President on the university's overall academic activities.
The President said students need to develop proficiency in multiple languages to keep pace with global advancement, placing particular emphasis on learning a third language.
He also expressed interest after JnU VC formally invited him, in his capacity as Chancellor, to attend the university's upcoming convocation.
Secretaries of the President's Office, JnU registrar and treasurer were present at the meeting.
