Talented students urged to help administer Bangladesh.
Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Sa Ching Prue today said talented students will have to play a crucial role in administering the country in the future.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at a reception organised for successful SSC 2026 students at the auditorium of the Small Ethnic Cultural Institute in Bandarban.
The Bandarban Government High School Alumnae Association organised the programme.
The minister said the education-friendly government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is taking appropriate measures to identify and nurture talented students.
Highlighting various challenges in the education sector, he said the shortage of qualified teachers is a national problem.
"Necessary steps will be taken to reduce the shortage of quality teachers in the education sector in Bandarban," he added.
Recalling his tenure as chairman of the Bandarban Hill District Council, the minister said he had placed special emphasis on establishing junior high schools in the district, which are now playing an important role in expanding educational opportunities in the region.
Addressing the students, Sa Ching Prue urged them not to focus solely on academic studies but to give equal importance to sports for their physical and mental development.
He also called upon the youth to come forward to help resolve the region's water crisis and protect its environment.
Bandarban Hill District Council Chairman Mamaching attended the programme as the special guest, while Bandarban Government High School Alumnae Association Vice-President Win Mong Jolly chaired the event.
