The young Bangladeshi songwriter, composer and singer is using digital platforms to reach listeners, with a dream of taking diverse Bengali music to a global audience.

What began as an expression of love has gradually evolved into a lifelong pursuit of music for SRF Khan Shuvro, also known as Sharif Khan.

Shuvro started writing songs after falling in love. Although the relationship eventually came to an end, his passion for songwriting remained. He has since written hundreds of songs and gained recognition for nearly 100 songs that he has composed and performed himself.

At a time when digital platforms are reshaping how music reaches audiences, the young artist has chosen social media as a key channel to share his work and build a direct connection with listeners.

He believes there should be no unnecessary distance between singers and their audiences. In an effort to encourage feedback and suggestions, he has even shared his personal mobile number with listeners.

For Shuvro, however, the ambition extends beyond building a personal following. He wants to contribute to the diversity of Bengali music and help bring Bangladesh's musical creativity to the international stage.

Building a connection through music

Shuvro hopes to offer listeners a distinctive musical experience through original compositions, engaging melodies and lyrics that resonate emotionally.

He plans to continue releasing music through social media, using digital platforms to reach a wider audience and explore new ways of presenting Bengali songs.

His approach reflects the opportunities available to emerging musicians, who can now distribute their work and interact with listeners without relying entirely on traditional music industry channels.

The artist says he wants to keep creating music throughout his life, regardless of how large his audience becomes. Even if listeners eventually move away, he says, his songwriting diary will remain open.

From childhood curiosity to musical ambition

Shuvro describes his childhood as ordinary, but says he was always curious about performance and expression.

As a child, he would stand in front of a mirror, imitate different characters and memorise film dialogues before delivering them in his own voice. Over time, that interest in performance developed into a broader creative pursuit.

To improve his understanding of music and keep pace with international developments, Shuvro says he has established a studio in Kolkata alongside his work in Bangladesh. He considers the experience an opportunity to learn and develop his craft.

His long-term ambition is to produce music that combines originality with an emotional connection to listeners, while reflecting the diversity of Bengali musical expression.

For Shuvro, the journey is not defined solely by popularity. It is about continuing to write, compose and perform—and ensuring that music remains a constant part of his life.
