US Expresses Condolences Over Nepal Flood Victims
The United States has expressed its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in devastating flash floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa district.
In a media note issued on August 26, the US State Department said its thoughts were with all those affected by the disaster.
The State Department is closely monitoring the situation and has deployed a disaster response adviser to the region to support ongoing relief and response efforts.
The United States will also provide $500,000 in emergency assistance through its global award with Catholic Relief Services. The funding will support emergency shelter, relief supplies, and water, sanitation and hygiene services for communities affected by the floods.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Kathmandu is working closely with local authorities to locate and assist US citizens in the affected areas.
The embassy urged US citizens in flood-affected areas to monitor local news, follow instructions from Nepalese authorities and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive important safety and emergency updates.
