Over 20,000 personnel deployed for Tarique’s Chattogram visit, Puja security
A comprehensive four-tier security shield has
been established across Chattogram in anticipation of Prime Minister Tarique
Rahman's upcoming visit on Tuesday [October 20], coinciding with the vibrant
celebrations of the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival.
On the evening of his arrival, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the
historic JM Sen Hall puja mandap in Rahmatganj to observe the festival and
exchange greetings with the Hindu community.
To secure both the VIP visit and the region's approximately 2,600 worship
pavilions, over 20,000 personnel drawn from the Police, Rapid Action
Battalion (RAB), Ansar, and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed
under the coordination of the Special Security Force (SSF).
The security apparatus includes regular mobile patrols, plainclothes
intelligence surveillance, special striking forces on standby, and direct
emergency contacts posted at venues.
Besides, strict cyber monitoring is active across digital and social media
platforms to thwart any attempts to spread rumors, circulate misinformation,
or disrupt communal harmony.
On Saturday morning, senior officials including Security Force Unit Commander
Lieutenant Colonel Md. Mostafizur Rahman and Chattogram Metropolitan Police
Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali inspected the JM Sen Hall venue to ensure
airtight security arrangements.
Local leaders, including Ershad Ullah, MP, and Zilla Parishad Chairman
Mahbubur Rahman Shamim welcomed the Prime Minister's gesture of solidarity,
noting that the coordinated security measures have generated widespread
enthusiasm and optimism for a peaceful, joyful conclusion to the festival.
