Ayurveda offers new scope for India-Bangladesh health cooperation
DHAKA, Sept 24: Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi said Ayurveda represents part of the shared knowledge traditions of India and Bangladesh.
He underscored the scope for expanding cooperation between the two countries in traditional medicine, research and the exchange of knowledge.
He made this remark at a programme marking the 11th Ayurveda Day, organized by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) at Old Indian House in the city on Wednesday, highlighting the potential for greater India-Bangladesh cooperation in traditional medicine, research and knowledge exchange.
The programme organised under the theme “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow,” featured an interactive workshop on Ayurveda and preventive healthcare.
Dr Mohammad Mamun Mia, principal of Nur-Majid Ayurvedic College; Prof Dr Babul Akter of Hamdard University; and Dr Md Jakir Hossain of Nur-Majid Ayurvedic College conducted a workshop.
The programme also brought together health and cultural elements, with the unveiling of a wool tapestry of Lord Ganesha created by Bangladeshi artist Shahin Sobhana Surovi.
Noted vocalist Ranjan Chandra Sarker performed classical music at the event.
Students from leading universities and research institutes involved in Ayurveda and traditional medicine took part in the programme with enthusiasm.
The celebration provided a platform for students, academics and practitioners to engage with Ayurveda and its role in preventive healthcare while also showcasing shared cultural traditions between the two neighbouring countries.
