Pak envoy urges students to contribute to nation, communities

Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider has urged Bangladeshi students to focus on their education and contribute to the development of their country and local communities.

He made the remarks while seeing off the first batch of 42 Bangladeshi students at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday night.

The students left for Pakistan to pursue higher education under the second phase of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor.

They have been awarded fully funded Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships to pursue undergraduate, master's and PhD programmes at leading Pakistani universities under the second phase of the scholarship programme.

Wishing the students success in their academic pursuits, Haider expressed confidence that they would contribute to the country's future and help strengthen ties between the peoples of Bangladesh and Pakistan.

He also encouraged the students to make the most of their educational opportunities, saying young people have an important role to play in building a strong nation and contributing to their local communities.

The high commissioner said the students could also serve as a bridge between Bangladesh and Pakistan by fostering greater understanding and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Last year, 74 Bangladeshi students joined leading Pakistani universities under the first phase of the programme.
