The new complex is poised to become an important institutional base for Bangladesh’s diplomatic presence in Islamabad
DHAKA, September 15, 2026: Bangladesh’s newly constructed Chancery Complex in Islamabad is emerging as a significant addition to the country’s diplomatic infrastructure, offering a modern setting for the Bangladesh High Commission to conduct its diplomatic, consular and administrative activities in Pakistan.
The development came into focus on Tuesday when a three-member high-level delegation from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Secretary (East and West) and Inspector General of Missions Ambassador Dr Md Nazrul Islam, visited the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad as part of a two-day official tour.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Mohammad Iqbal Hossain Khan received the delegation at the mission.
The delegation included Abdul Mannan, Deputy Secretary of the Finance Division, and Md Shafqat Mosharraf, Assistant Secretary (Projects) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the visit, the delegation inspected the newly constructed chancery complex located in Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave. The inspection reflected the government’s continued focus on strengthening the physical and institutional capacity of Bangladesh’s diplomatic missions abroad.
A well-equipped chancery is more than an administrative facility for a diplomatic mission. It serves as a platform for diplomatic engagement, consular services, official communication and interaction with the host government, diplomatic community and other stakeholders.
For Bangladesh’s mission in Islamabad, the new complex is therefore expected to provide a more appropriate and functional environment for carrying out its responsibilities and advancing bilateral engagement.
The delegation was accompanied by senior officials of the High Commission, including the Defence Adviser, Deputy High Commissioner, Press Counsellor, Counsellor (Consular) and Head of Chancery, along with other officials and employees.
As part of the visit, members of the delegation also planted trees on the High Commission premises, symbolising an effort to incorporate environmental considerations into the development of Bangladesh’s diplomatic facilities.
The inspection of the new chancery underscores Dhaka’s emphasis on modernising its overseas diplomatic infrastructure while ensuring that its missions remain equipped to support Bangladesh’s evolving diplomatic priorities.
