EC begins preparatory meeting for local government elections.
The Election Commission (EC) today began a preparatory meeting with representatives of various ministries, divisions and authorities ahead of the upcoming local government elections and the by-election to the Thakurgaon-1 constituency.
The meeting started at around 2:35 pm at a conference room of the Election Commission Secretariat in Agargaon.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin is chairing the meeting, which is being attended by other election commissioners.
Officials from different ministries, divisions and concerned authorities are also taking part in the meeting.
Earlier on Tuesday, EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said the schedule for the local government elections would be finalized at the preparatory meeting with the concerned ministries, divisions and authorities scheduled for September 17.
