EC finalizes 120 election symbols, keeps ‘Boat’ suspended.
The Election Commission (EC) has validated 120 election symbols which will be applicable for next national election.
The EC has finalized the list of the electoral symbols after amending the concerned sub-rule of the Election Conduct Rules 2008, said an EC gazette notification here on Tuesday.
The symbol of ‘Boat’ has been kept on hold.
The gazette has been published in the extraordinary issue of the BG Press on Wednesday.
According to the notification, exercising the powers conferred by Article 94 of the Representation of the People Order, 1972 (President’s Order No. 155 of 1972), the EC made further amendments to sub-rule (1) of rule 9 of the Election Conduct Rules, 2008.
According to revised rule, a particular symbol can be allotted against a candidate basis on the availability of the enlisted symbols except the suspended symbols.
A total of 120 symbols have been included in the final list.
Of these symbols are Pineapple, Apple, Mango, Coconut, Litchi, Jackfruit, Banana bunch, Date tree, Sunflower, Cauliflower, Paddy sheaf, Golden fiber (Jute), Eagle, Camel, Bullock cart, Cow, Tiger, Rocket (bird/animal context in lists), Heron, Pigeon, Crocodile, Horse, Shrimp, Peacock, Deer, Duck, Elephant, Rooster, Lion.
Truck, Tractor, Bicycle, Rickshaw, Railway engine, Plough, Ship, Baby taxi, Motor car, Motorcycle, Double-decker bus, Swing, Boat (Suspended), Palanquin, Helicopter.

All election related activities will be conducted as per the new amended rules.
