Drugs identified as root cause of Cox’s Bazar crimes: Prue
Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Sa Ching Prue, MP, has said drugs are the root cause of crimes committed in Cox’s Bazar, adding that the government is taking steps to eliminate the drug menace.
“Drugs are not just an issue in Cox’s Bazar; they are a nationwide concern. Drug involvement is linked to all types of crimes in Cox’s Bazar as well as across the country,” he said while addressing a special meeting held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here today.
Prue stressed the importance of coordinated efforts and sincere cooperation among all concerned to maintain overall law and order in the district in a normal, peaceful and stable manner.
The meeting, organised by the district administration, reviewed and coordinated overall government activities, including law and order, corruption and drug control, ensuring good governance, transparency and accountability, and public welfare and development initiatives.
Prue said peace, discipline and public safety in the district could be further strengthened through close cooperation among the administration, law enforcement agencies and all relevant stakeholders.
The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Md A. Mannan.
Lawmakers Lutfur Rahman Kajal and Advocate Shamima Ara Swapna, Police Superintendent ANM Sajedur Rahman, and senior officials from various law enforcement agencies and the administration also spoke at the meeting.
Officials from various government departments and law enforcement agencies, public representatives and other concerned persons were present.
