Parliament committee seeks authentic martyr, freedom fighter lists.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs today recommended preparing a report based on an accurate list of Liberation War martyrs and an authentic list of freedom fighters (FFs).
The recommendation was made at the second meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its Chairman Md Monirul Haque Chowdhury in the chair.
The committee also recommended taking necessary measures to send injured July Uprising fighters abroad for better treatment on a priority basis in phases.
It further recommended ensuring that genuine freedom fighters receive necessary facilities on a priority basis through the Muktijoddha Kalyan Trust, said a press release issued here this afternoon.
The committee also advised taking necessary steps to keep the Muktijoddha Sangsad functional so that it can play an active role in national politics.
The meeting reviewed the minutes of previous meetings and discussed major activities undertaken by the ministry over the past six months and their implementation progress.
The committee advised all concerned to take appropriate measures to present the authentic history of the Liberation War and ensure due respect for freedom fighters and July Uprising fighters.
Committee members Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan, State Minister Ishraque Hossain, Md Abdul Hannan and Rokeya Begum attended the meeting.
The ministry secretary, senior officials of the July Mass Uprising Directorate, the ministry concerned and the Parliament Secretariat were also present.
