Primary teacher recruitment verification to continue until Oct 1.
The process of verifying and scrutinising information for successful candidates for the post of assistant teacher in primary schools will continue till October 1.
Education Minister and Primary and Mass Education Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon revealed the information while responding to questions from journalists at the beginning of a meeting of the National Steering Committee at the Secretariat on the World Teachers' Day 2026.
He said if anyone fails to receive an appointment letter by then, the matter will be examined and resolved promptly.
The education minister said, "The verification and posting of candidates selected for primary teacher recruitment are currently underway and will conclude by October 1. If anyone does not receive an appointment letter by that time, it will be issued following a subsequent review."
Responding to another query, he said only qualified candidates would secure employment, and the verification process would be conducted transparently in accordance with government regulations.
Highlighting government initiatives to curb the brain drain, Milon said under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government has adopted a 'reverse brain drain' policy.
The government is working on a priority basis to bring back talented students and teachers who have gone abroad by expanding opportunities for advanced education and research within the country, he said.
Regarding teacher transfers, the minister mentioned that an online system is being introduced for the transfer of both primary school teachers and teachers from private MPO-listed institutions.
However, he said, some administrative transfers have been coordinated to address the posting needs of primary school teachers currently on attachment.
Regarding the re-scrutiny of SSC exam scripts, the education minister informed that following the amendment of the Public Examination Act and the re-evaluation of answer scripts, about 4,585 students, who had previously failed, have now passed.
Additionally, 3,079 students newly achieved GPA-5, and the grades of 27,836 students were revised, he said.
He said the examiners responsible for these discrepancies have been identified and will be held accountable and subjected to training.
During the briefing, Prime Minister's Adviser on Education and Primary and Mass Education, Mahdi Amin announced that 100 distinguished teachers from various levels across the country would be honoured this year on the occasion of World Teachers' Day.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to attend the Teachers' Day event, he said.
He said the government is working tirelessly to ensure the professional dignity of teachers.
The meeting was attended by Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives; Whips of the National Parliament Rakibul Islam Bakul and Mia Nuruddin Apu; Abdul Khaleque, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division; Md. Daud Mia, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division; and Jasmin Nahar, Secretary of Primary and Mass Education.
