Maldives VP meets Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman on UNGA sidelines
DHAKA, Sept 23 — Maldives Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef met Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81), with the two leaders discussing ways to strengthen mutual cooperation.
The Maldives High Commission in Bangladesh shared the information on its official Facebook page on Wednesday.
According to the post, the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the Maldives and Bangladesh, reflecting the two countries’ shared interest in further deepening bilateral ties.
The meeting took place during the high-level gathering of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Bangladesh and the Maldives maintain close relations, with cooperation extending to areas including trade, tourism, labour mobility and people-to-people connectivity.
The meeting between Latheef and Tarique Rahman came as the two countries seek to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and engagement at the highest political level.
