Mintoo urges parents to prepare children for societal changes.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo today said the society is changing and this change will accelerate in the future.
"Consequently, our children will also undergo changes. We must adapt to these societal shifts and prepare our children for those," he said.
The minister made the remarks at a reception ceremony held at the auditorium of Ataturk Govt Model High School in Daganbhuiyan in Feni this afternoon.
Daganbhuiyan Upazila administration arranged the ceremony to honour the meritorious students who achieved GPA-5 in this year's SSC, Dakhil, and vocational examinations.
In his speech, Mintoo said new technological innovations are emerging now, and more will follow.
It is the responsibility of guardians to ensure that the new generation can navigate these societal changes effectively, he said, adding "We must adapt to this; we want to evolve."
The environment minister said it is the duty of guardians to guide their children on how to adapt to society.
"The teachers' role comes subsequently. We have students here who achieved GPA-5, but I also welcome those who did not achieve it or who failed," he said.
He said there is no reason for those who performed poorly to despair.
If they wish to change their trajectory, they must continue their effects, he said.
The event was presided over by Feni Deputy Commissioner Mahbubul Karim, where 160 students were honoured.
District Education Officer Md Shafi Ullah attended as a special guest at the event, while Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Shahidul Islam delivered the welcome address.
