Cultural minister provides Tk5 lakh treatment aid to Abdul Matin’s wife.

Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury today visited the residence of Gulbadan Nesa Monika, ailing wife of Language Movement veteran Abdul Matin, in Mohammadpur  in the city.

He inquired about her health, and handed over a cheque for Taka five lakh from the Bangladesh Shilpi Kalyan Trust (Bangladesh Artistes' Welfare Trust) as financial assistance for her treatment.

The minister also wished her early recovery, said a press release this afternoon.

Recalling language veteran Abdul Matin’s outstanding contribution with deep respect to the Language Movement, the minister said his struggles during his political life and his sacrifice for the mother tongue has  remained unforgotten.  

He said the sacrifices and ideals of the Language Movement veterans would remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.

Managing Director of the Bangladesh Shilpi Kalyan Trust and two daughters of Language Movement veteran Abdul Matin were present there.
