A bilateral trade discussion between the Office Bearers of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) and a 7-member business delegation from Türkiye led by Burak Basegmezlar, Vice President of the Turkish Electro Technology Exporters’ Association (TET) was held on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) at the Gulshan Centre.
The Ambassador of Türkiye to Bangladesh, Ramis Şen, also attended the event.
Welcoming the delegation, DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed said that Bangladesh and Türkiye have long enjoyed friendly relations and expressed optimism that such visits by Turkish business delegations would further expand bilateral trade in the future.
He informed that the total bilateral trade between the two countries during FY 2024–25 stood at approximately USD 1.05 billion, of which Bangladesh’s imports and exports amounted to USD 416.76 million and USD 634.53 million respectively.
He mentioned that Turkish entrepreneurs have already invested USD 74.05 million in various sectors in Bangladesh. DCCI President invited Turkish investors to come forward with both joint and sole investments in promising sectors such as readymade garments, leather and footwear, jute goods, agro-processed products, pharmaceuticals, light engineering products, ICT services and software, home textiles, and consumer goods.
Burak Basegmezlar, Vice President of the Turkish Electro Technology Exporters’ Association (TET) stated that there is significant demand in Bangladesh for electronic equipment, home appliances, generators, and similar products.
He mentioned that investors from Türkiye are interested in making both joint and independent investments in these sectors. He also informed that a delegation of Turkish entrepreneurs from the electronics and electrical equipment sector is planning to visit Bangladesh in November this year. During the visit, private sector representatives from both countries will be able to participate in bilateral discussions and B2B (Business-to-Business) sessions, creating opportunities to utilize the sector’s potential and thereby contributing to the expansion of trade and investment, he hoped.
Ambassador of Türkiye to Bangladesh, Ramis Şen said that there is immense potential for expanding bilateral trade and to harness this opportunity, business relations between entrepreneurs of the two countries need to be further strengthened.
He also expressed that DCCI can play an effective bridging role in enhancing trade cooperation between the private sectors of both countries.
DCCI Senior Vice President Razeev H Chowdhury, Vice President Md. Salem Sulaiman, among others, were also present during the meeting.
