Pakistan Condemns Houthi Attack on Riyadh Airport, Reaffirms Saudi Defence Commitment
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned the reported Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, reaffirming its commitment to Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security under the two countries’ joint defence agreement.
In separate statements, Pakistan’s prime minister and foreign minister denounced the attack, expressed condolences to the victims’ families and called for an immediate halt to assaults targeting civilians and critical infrastructure.
The prime minister described the attack as heinous and stressed that violence against civilians and vital infrastructure was unacceptable and posed a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
He also said such acts flagrantly violated international law and must cease immediately.
“Pakistan stands in unwavering solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership and brotherly people,” the prime minister said, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to the kingdom’s security in accordance with the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and the longstanding ties between the two countries.
The prime minister extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift and full recovery of those injured in the attack.
Pakistan’s foreign minister also condemned the reported attack, describing the targeting of a civilian airport as an act of terrorism, a violation of international law and a grave threat to regional peace and security.
The foreign minister expressed concern over reports of casualties and injuries, extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished the injured a swift and complete recovery.
He said the continued targeting of civilian populations and critical infrastructure by the Houthi militia was unacceptable and called on the international community to condemn such acts unequivocally.
The foreign minister also referred to the Makkah Agreement for Joint Defence and recent decisions taken by its Strategic, Political and Defence Committee, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and stability.
“Pakistan fully supports the Kingdom’s legitimate right to defend its territory, protect its people and safeguard its cities and vital infrastructure against all threats and acts of aggression,” the foreign minister said.
Pakistan urged the Houthi militia to immediately cease its attacks and called on the international community to take a firm stand against actions that endanger civilian lives and undermine regional stability.
The foreign minister reiterated that Pakistan would continue to stand alongside Saudi Arabia in support of its security and defence.
The statements underscore the close strategic relationship between Islamabad and Riyadh, with Pakistan reaffirming its support for Saudi Arabia amid concerns over threats to civilian infrastructure and regional stability.
