DHAKA, Oct 4, 2026 — Bangladesh and Pakistan have discussed expanding bilateral trade in textiles and related sectors, implementing an existing industry cooperation agreement and reducing barriers to trade.

Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider met Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Mahmud Hasan Khan at the BGMEA office in Dhaka on Sunday, according to a press release issued by the Pakistan High Commission.

The discussions focused on increasing trade in textile and allied sectors and organising activities under a memorandum of understanding signed earlier between BGMEA and the Pakistan Ready-Made Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA).

The two sides also discussed ways to reduce trade barriers and strengthen commercial cooperation between businesses in the two countries.

During the meeting, Khan invited Pakistani companies to participate in the upcoming Bangladesh Apparel and Textile Exposition (BATEXPO), scheduled to be held on November 18-19.

The Pakistani high commissioner assured the BGMEA president of his country's "all possible cooperation" to enhance bilateral trade and commercial collaboration.

The meeting comes as Bangladesh and Pakistan have been seeking to deepen economic and business ties, particularly through greater engagement between private-sector stakeholders.
