Ambassador Cup Wushu Championship concludes in Dhaka

The 8th China Ambassador Cup Wushu Championship-2026 concluded on Sunday with Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen attending the closing ceremony and presenting awards to the winning teams.

More than 600 people attended the event, including State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Islam, President of the Bangladesh Wushu Federation Md Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, participating athletes and Wushu enthusiasts.

In his remarks, Ambassador Yao said Wushu originated in China but belongs to the world. He said the martial art embodies the spirit of pursuing excellence and self-improvement, as well as the wisdom of “harmony in diversity” and the concept of resolving conflicts through martial arts.

He noted that Wushu has gained growing popularity in Bangladesh in recent years, creating new opportunities for cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the peoples of Bangladesh and China.

China, he said, will continue to support the development of Wushu and sports in Bangladesh, contributing to closer people-to-people ties and the building of a closer China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era.

State Minister Md Aminul Islam praised Wushu’s role in promoting the physical and mental development of Bangladeshi youth. He expressed hope that the China Ambassador Cup Wushu Championship would provide a platform for young athletes to improve their physical fitness, strengthen their spirits and further deepen the friendship between Bangladesh and China.
