Russian Scholarship Holders Receive Passports and Visas in Dhaka
Dhaka, August 24, 2026: The Russian House in Dhaka hosted a special meeting for Bangladeshi recipients of the Russian Government Scholarship, where successful candidates received their passports after obtaining Russian visas ahead of their departure for Russia.
The event marked an important milestone for the scholarship recipients as they prepare to begin their academic journeys at Russian universities.
The programme brought together scholarship recipients preparing to travel to Russia, alumni of Russian universities, professionals with academic and professional experience in the country, and current Bangladeshi scholarship holders who joined the event online to share their experiences and practical advice.
The programme opened with remarks by Alexandra A. Khlevnoy, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka. Distinguished guests and alumni of Russian universities also addressed the participants, including Professor Dr Md Nasim Akhtar, Executive Committee Member of the Soviet Alumni Association, Bangladesh (SAAB); Ar. Tania Atiq, General Secretary of the 14th Executive Committee of SAAB; Dr Barek Kaiser, Assistant Professor at the University of Development Alternative and a graduate of RUDN University; Dr Mahmudul Hasan, Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon at the N. The invited speakers shared their personal experiences of studying, living and developing professionally in Russia. They provided the scholarship recipients with practical guidance on university life, adapting to a new environment, academic opportunities and building international careers.
A key feature of the programme was the participation of current Bangladeshi scholarship holders studying at Russian universities, who joined the meeting online from Russia.
They shared first-hand experiences and recommendations on preparing for departure, adapting to student life, communicating with university authorities, accommodation, academic activities and making the most of opportunities available to international students.
The exchange allowed the incoming scholarship holders to hear directly from Bangladeshi students who have already made the transition to studying in Russia and gain a clearer understanding of what to expect after their arrival.
For the scholarship recipients, receiving their passports with Russian visas represented more than the completion of an administrative process. It marked the final stage of preparation before they embark on a new academic and personal chapter in Russia.
The Russian House in Dhaka wished all scholarship holders a safe journey, successful studies and a memorable experience in Russia.
